DSW's Training Centre in Ethiopia was designed to contribute to the improvement of young people's sexual and reproductive health conditions. Established with support from Bonita Gefuehl fuer Mode GmbH in November 2004, the Training Centre aims at strengthening the training efforts and managerial capacity of youth-serving NGOs and youth clubs at grassroots level.

The first of its kind in Ethiopia and DSW's second training facility in East Africa, the Training Centre greatly contributes to intensifying and streamlining the Y2Y programme through the provision of training for core facilitators and trainers in the areas of reproductive health, population leadership training, advocacy and networking, small business management etc.

Of great value for other youth-serving organisations

Despite the fact that the Training Centre has only been in operation for a short period of time, it has already been widely recognised as a valuable asset for adolescent sexual and reproductive health programming in the region. Not only has the Training Centre been appraised by the Ethiopian Ministry of Education, but it has also attracted other youth-serving organisations, which have contracted the Training Centre to conduct their own workshops, seminars, meetings and conferences. Among these organisations are UNICEF and Save the Children USA.
