Leading a healthy and productive life, given the challenges
that many young people face, requires access to appropriate information
and services, as well as the development of
decision-making and interpersonal skills.
The Y2Y programme has designed a broad range of activities aimed
at improving young people's sexual and reproductive health, self-esteem
and social participation. Although the specific implementation
of activities varies from country to country where Y2Y is established,
the activities themselves
are uniformly designed. Peer education – education of young
people by young people – is the cornerstone
of the Y2Y programme.
Unlike in many other sexual education programmes,
young people are not simply involved in the activities, but take
the lead in all stages
of design,
implementation
and monitoring.
